Homologation

The homologation is the granting of approval by an official authority of your academic studies. In this case, the Spanish Ministry of Education officially acknowledges a foreign academic title as equivalent to a Spanish one, thereby granting legal access to continue your education in the country.

 

It is essentially an accreditation that confirms that what you studied in your home country is valid in Spain, allowing you to continue your university studies here.

 

Requirements for homologation:

 

– Your studies must be valid in your home country.

 

– Your studies must be completed, and all courses passed.

 

– There must be sufficient equivalence between these studies and the Spanish system, both in academic level and in their duration and content.

 

– If you studied in a foreign school located in Spain, it must be an accredited institution.

 

There are two different types of homologation processes, depending on the high school education degree obtained abroad. Those are:

1.1. CREATE YOUR ACCOUNT

 

– Go to the website UNED ASISS and click on Sign up on the left.

 

– Upload your ID document or passport and fill in your personal data. Click on Continue.

 

– You’ll receive a confirmation email with your new user. Activate your account by clicking on the link in the email and setting your new password.

 

 

1.2. START YOUR ONLINE APPLICATION

 

Before starting your online application, it is important that you keep in mind the admission requirements from ESDI that the Admissions Department has sent you. We recommend preparing all the necessary documents beforehand.

 

– Log in with your new account. Choose your preferred language (English/Spanish). Click Create a new application at the bottom of the page.

 

– Choose your application process. There are two possibilities:

 

– Through a management entity: The student authorizes the management entity to process the application and access personal data. If that’s your case, you should have contacted the entity beforehand and follow their instructions to apply.

 

– Independently: The student processes the application directly without any external assistance. If you choose to apply on your own, select the option Individual application.

 

– Select the continent and country of your education system.

 

– Select the type and cycle of studies you have completed in your home country. You’ll see a pop-up window with the following options:

 

– Secondary studies listed in Annex I.

 

– Professional or technical studies.

 

– Other studies: choose this category if you have completed specific studies that allow entry to university but are not equivalent to bachillerato or professional studies in Spain.

 

– Secondary studies that allow the homologation of the Spanish bachillerato (without access requirements in your home country).

 

– Select the services offered by your destination university. The services available will depend on ESDI’s study system. The list may include:

 

– Certification of compliance with minimum access requirements.

 

– Qualification for admission to Spanish universities: UNEDassis will calculate your admission grade based on your academic records and specific admission tests (if applicable).

 

– Baccalaureate modality completed: you can select up to two modalities.

 

– Specific admission tests (if applicable): select the place and subjects you’d like to be tested on (up to six tests).

 

– Recognition of subjects.

 

– Language certificates (if applicable).

 

 

1.3. UPLOAD YOUR DOCUMENTS

 

A list of the documents pending submission will be available in your application.

 

 

1.4. PAYMENT

 

You can choose between online payment (credit card) or payment through your bank. Always print the payment confirmation, as you will need it to access the specific admission tests.

 

 

1.5. SEND YOUR APPLICATION

 

Click on Send application. Once the application is submitted, you will not be able to create a new one.

 

If you wish to modify your application, you must send an email to unedassiss@adm.uned.es

 

Modifications that result in a payment reduction will not be accepted.

2.1. SUBMIT AN APPLICATION IN A REGISTRATION OFFICE

 

You can register yourself in the Serveis Territorials d’Educació of Catalonia by arranging an appointment through the provided link.

 

However, please bear in mind that you need to be living and registered in the city beforehand.

 

 

2.2. PROVIDE THE REQUIRED ACADEMIC DOCUMENTS

 

If you’re applying through the Serveis, you should inform yourself about the recognition formalities and the documentation to be submitted according to the country where your education was obtained. This information can be found on the Generalitat de Catalunya website, under Tria Educativa.

 

You can verify copies of your documents in any Spanish administration office by presenting the official version of the documentation.

 

In all cases, please remember that all qualifications and academic transcripts must meet the following requirements:

 

– They must be official academic documents issued by the competent authorities of the country in question. They must be legalized, except if they originate from EU countries.

 

– Documents issued in countries that have signed the Hague Convention must be legalized with an apostille issued by the competent authority of the country.

 

– Documents issued in other countries must be legalized through diplomatic channels in the following order:

 

1. Ministry of Education of the country of origin.

 

2. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country of issue.

 

3. Diplomatic or consular representation of Spain in the country of dispatch.

 

All documents must be officially translated, unless the original documentation is in Catalan or Spanish.

 

 

2.3. CERTIFY THE PAYMENT OF FEES

 

The amount will depend on the type of application you are submitting. To pay the fee, you must have the payment letter generated by the computer application when you submitted your request.

 

You should provide a bank-validated certificate confirming payment of the fees.

 

This amount must be paid in order to carry out any recognition or validation proceedings. If proof of payment cannot be provided (or if the amount paid is insufficient), the applicant will be required to pay the outstanding balance.

 

Failure to do so will result in the application being considered withdrawn.
