In collaboration with NTT DATA, LATENT and Kronospan, ESDI will organize a programme dedicated to digital prototyping, graphic production and experimentation with materials.
ESDI will participate as an associate venue in Barcelona Design Week 2026, which will take place from October 14 to 25. Under the theme PRO-TEST, and with graphic design by the Abuela studio founded by alumnus Kevin Sabariego, this edition highlights the value of prototyping, testing, and revising ideas as an essential part of the design process.
With this in mind, the school will be promoting three activities in collaboration with companies and professionals in the sector. This is an opportunity to explore different disciplines and learn about the processes involved in transforming an idea into a digital product, a printed piece, or an interior design proposal.
ESDI X NTT DATA: «Prototype, Test, Iterate»
How does a project change when we put the prototype in the hands of those who will use it? ESDI and NTT DATA propose a practical workshop, linked to the Master in Digital Product Design with AI (UX/UI), to discover the role of user testing in the development of digital products.
The session will begin with an introduction to user testing. Participants will then work in teams to solve a challenge and create a small prototype using artificial intelligence tools. The prototypes will be tested in the laboratory and observation room of NTT DATA’s Digital Experience Research Center, combining creation, validation, and improvement in a professional environment. There will also be time to share learnings and network.
Date: October 16.
Location: NTT DATA Sea Towers (Av. d’Icària, 211, Barcelona).
Prior registration on EVENTBRITE is required.
ESDI X LATENT: «Print Is Art»
Paper, inks, finishes, and binding are all part of the decisions that give meaning to a graphic design project. To explore their possibilities, ESDI and the LATENT design festival are organizing “Print Is Art,” a masterclass with Pedro López, founder and director of Nova Era .
The session will cover the stages that connect an idea to the printed object: from prepress and offset and digital printing techniques to color proofs, material selection, and cost optimization. It will also address photobook production and financing, workflows, and key typography concepts.
Aimed primarily at graphic design students and young professionals, the event is open to anyone interested in print culture and the graphic arts. In this way, ESDI strengthens its relationship with the LATENT festival, founded by professors Xavier Lienas and fellow alumnus Albert Soriguera, of which ESDI is an official sponsor.
Date and time: October 19, at 4:00 p.m.
Location: ESDI Sabadell (C/ Marquès de Comillas, 81-83, Sabadell).
Access: Free, with prior registration on EVENTBRITE.
ESDI X KRONOSPAN: «Living Matter: Workshop on Textures, Color and Composition»
The program will be completed with “Living Matter: Workshop of textures, color and composition”, an activity in which ESDI students will transform the Kronospan Design Center showroom into a space for research and experimentation.
After learning about the brand’s materials, participants will receive a mystery box filled with textures and colors that are difficult to combine. The challenge will be to work in teams to create mood boards and, within a limited time, design the composition of a commercial or residential space.
The proposal invites participants to question conventional combinations and explore new relationships between materials, color, and space. The results will be photographed and shared at a final meeting among the participants.
Date and time: October 22, at 10:00 a.m.
Location: Kronospan Design Center Barcelona (Av. del Marquès de l’Argentera, 23, Barcelona).
Participation: activity aimed at students of Interior Design at ESDI-URL.
