SUBJECT

PHOTOGRAPHY AND VISUAL LANGUAGE

KEY DATA

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The subject offers a theoretical-practical approach to photographic language as a communication tool in design, with the aim of enabling students to develop both technical competence in handling the camera, lighting and the set, as well as a critical capacity to construct coherent and expressive visual discourses.

Through the fundamentals of the psychology of perception, semiotics, and photo editing, the understanding of photography is stimulated not only as an aesthetic resource, but as a narrative and conceptual medium integrated into the design process.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • To associate photographic language with the social function of design in order to represent inclusive and egalitarian proposals.
  • Use photographic tools and techniques for the visual communication of design proposals.
  • Consider the experimentation that photographic language allows as a tool applicable in the different phases of the design project.
  • Establish the use of photographic tools to document and visually communicate ideas in the design process to a specialized or non-specialized audience.
  • To use photographic language to communicate the process and resolution of a design proposal.
  • Applying photography in the creative process to enhance the communication of design projects.
