SUBJECT

INTRODUCTION TO MATERIALS, TECHNIQUES AND TECHNOLOGY

KEY DATA

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The subject introduces students to the knowledge of materials, techniques and technologies applicable to the execution of design projects, with the aim of providing solid criteria for their selection and application according to the requirements of each project.

Through practical exercises, the course allows students to experiment with and analyze the properties, advantages, limitations, and potential of these resources, as a preliminary step to their integrated use in design courses. Thus, the subject is conceived as a bridge between the conceptual phase of design and its material execution.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Select relevant data on the resolution of usability, communication, or consumption of a product or service
  • Analyze the technical or material constraints existing to materialize a project
  • To use the appropriate construction processes to materialize a given project
  • Choosing the materials, techniques, production processes and sustainability criteria for the materialization of projects
  • Use the tools and techniques for formalizing and materializing projects that are appropriate to the type of each project.
  • Consider the materials, techniques, and technologies in the formalization of the project.
