ABSOTEC and ESDI sign a collaboration agreement

ESDI has signed a collaboration agreement with ABSOTEC ® ABSORCIÓN ACÚSTICA , a Valladolid company specialising in acoustic solutions. This agreement will allow the development of projects within the framework of University-Business collaboration.

The first project resulting from this alliance, developed together with AITEX and Hilaturas Jesús Rubio, focuses on the design of acoustic absorption panels. These panels are made from the wool of Ripoll sheep, a species native to the Catalan Pyrenees. With only 5,000 specimens, its wool stands out for its ideal properties for sound absorption.
This project is committed to sustainable local development. Its objective is to reuse the wool, currently considered waste, and transform it into a marketable by-product. In this way, livestock activity in Ripoll is promoted and the circular economy is encouraged.

During two days of work, the ESDI, ABSOTEC, AITEX and Hilaturas Rubio teams visited farms in Ripoll. There, they learned about the origin of the raw material and explored its potential in the design of interior spaces. They also organised a focus group with more than 25 professionals, including architects and designers, to analyse its acoustic and aesthetic applications.

This agreement reinforces ESDI’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and applied research.
