ESDI – School of Design takes part in the 15th edition of the Llum BCN festival, held from 6 to 8 February 2026, with the installation Hexalux. This lighting proposal, created by ESDI students, transforms architecture into an interactive visual experience that plays with light and the perception of urban space.
Under the theme “Night Landscapes”, Llum BCN turns the city into a large creative laboratory where art, design, architecture and digital arts come together to surprise the public. This edition features 18 university schools of design, arts and architecture, consolidating the festival as a platform for innovation and emerging talent.
ESDI, a creative perspective on the city
ESDI’s participation reinforces the school’s commitment to experimentation, interdisciplinary creativity and a direct connection with Barcelona’s urban and cultural environment.
Hexalux: light, geometry and movement
The Hexalux installation can be visited in the outdoor area of the Auditori, with access from carrer Padilla, 153. The piece proposes a visual object that explores the contrast between the structural and the ephemeral, between the solidity of architecture and the ever-changing warmth of light.
The main structure takes the form of a hexagram, a symbol of stability, order and repetition inherent to architectural language. On this solid base, light and a plastic curtain introduce dynamism and fragility, creating a visual interplay in constant transformation.
The viewer, the protagonist of the experience
Hexalux invites the public to interact and observe how the perception of space changes depending on position and the incidence of light. An experience that turns rigid architecture into a living, immersive visual narrative.
A collective ESDI project
Hexalux has been developed by students Marta Gil, Maria Salvà, Magalí Molins, Laura Victoria Gómez and Berta Morales, under the supervision of lecturers David Pablo García and Raúl Fidalgo, with the collaboration of Josep Poblet, a specialist in lighting consultancy.
ESDI’s participation in Llum BCN 2026 allows students to showcase their talent at an international festival, combining hands-on learning with visibility and professional projection in a real-world context.
