INTRODUCTION
In the Fashion Design specialization, you will learn to transform ideas into garments and collections, mastering design, pattern making, garment construction, styling, and fashion communication processes. The program combines creativity and technical skills with a professional approach that addresses the real needs of the industry.
During your time at ESDI, you’ll experience fashion from the inside, participating in real-world projects with brands, fashion shows, and collaborations that will connect you directly with the industry. Curriculum
The Bachelor’s Degree in Design curriculum comprises 240 credits, structured into four years of 60 credits each. The first two years consist of Compulsory (O) and Basic Training (FB) courses, common to all specializations. However, some courses already cover specific content and include assignments and activities related to the specialization.
Fashion-specific elective courses are taught from the third year onwards and delve deeper into the theoretical and practical knowledge specific to each specialization. These courses are complemented by mandatory internships in companies and the completion of a final degree project.

Final Degree Project
The Final Degree Project in the Fashion Design specialization is the culmination of the program, where students apply everything they have learned to create a complete and personal collection. Through a process that integrates research, conceptualization, design, pattern making, and styling and image, each student develops their own project that reflects their creative identity and vision of fashion.

This project is not only an academic exercise, but also an opportunity to gain recognition in the industry. With the guidance of specialized tutors and the chance to present their work at fashion shows and events, students gain real-world professional experience that prepares them to make the definitive leap into the fashion industry.

Academic Team

ACADEMIC DIRECTOR OF ESDI-URL
Academic Director of ESDI-URL and PhD in Journalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). She has been the principal investigator of the TADD research group since 2018. From 2012 to 2024, she directed ESDI Color Lab, a laboratory that conducts research on color trends, as Spain’s representative to the International Color Association, Intercolor. Her research focuses on the social analysis and diagnosis of social trends that directly impact different areas of design. She has participated in international conferences and congresses and has written several articles and books related to the semiotics and sociology of design.

Industrial Engineer specializing in Textiles from ETSEIT-UPC, Postgraduate Diploma in Operations Management from ICT, and Executive Development Program from IESE Business School. He has extensive experience as a manager in Operations and Product areas within the textile/apparel/fashion sector. He has held positions such as Planning Manager at Benetton, Product Development Director at DBApparel Spain, and Quality and Sourcing Director at Desigual.

HEAD OF STUDIES AEAD FASHION
Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Fashion Design, specializing in Knitwear, from the University of Southampton through the EATM School of Arts and Fashion Techniques. Creative Director and founder of the Gacela Socks brand, he is also a freelance Product Manager for various companies, including Camper, TCN, Bobo Choses, Sivasdescalzo, Hoss Intropia, etc.

CLOTHING DESIGNER
Higher degree in Graphic Design from EINA, Master’s degree in Image Consulting and Personal Shopping, and Higher Level Vocational Training Certificate in Tailored and Stage Costumes from ESDI. She has worked as a costume assistant in theater, film, and television, as well as a sewing assistant in ateliers. She has also worked as a graphic designer and art director in various studios and companies.

At ESDI, she teaches design and digital tools, mentors final projects, and coordinates the degree program’s fashion shows with the AEAD Moda team. Degree in Fashion from the University of Southampton through EATM and a Master’s degree in Fashion from the Domus Academy in Milan. He has collaborated as a designer with Ermenegildo Zegna, Future Concept Lab, Twinset, Bathala, Seat, and Joaquim Verdú, among other companies. He won the international Domus Academy Fashion Award.

Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona (UB) and Doctor of Psychology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). Postgraduate degree in Computer Animation Techniques from the Escola Pia de Sarrià. With over 20 years of experience in teaching, applied research, academic management, and quality assurance. She is currently a professor in the Department of Design Theory and Analysis and a member of the Design Theory, Analysis, and Development (TADD) research group at ESDI-URL.

Specialist in fashion culture with a degree in Art History from the University of Barcelona, a postgraduate degree in Graphic Expression Techniques from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), an Erasmus exchange at Paul Valéry University (Paris VIII), and a Master’s degree in Curating New Media from ESDI-Ramon Llull University, specializing in research. Her career has encompassed teaching, research, journalism, and curating, focusing on fashion culture.

Graduate in Fashion Design, Master’s degree in Fashion Industry Management from ESDI-URL and a specialization in Strategic Management from IE University. An entrepreneur and founder of NiaLafoz, where we contribute an inclusive vision to the fashion world through creativity, strategy, and social commitment.

Graduate in Textile Art and Fine Arts from Hogeschool Rotterdam (Netherlands). She worked for 15 years in children’s fashion as a designer and illustrator of clothing and prints. She completed a postgraduate degree in Children’s Illustration at EINA and a Visual Storytelling residency at the School of Visual Arts in New York. She currently works at La Casa de Carlota (a B-Corp design studio) as the creative team’s art director and illustrator.

Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Fashion Design from Southampton University through the EATM School of Arts and Fashion Techniques. Graduate in Fashion Design from ESDI-URL. Studied Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona. Completed an Intensive Fashion Design Course at the Marangoni Institute in Milan. Won the 1st National Fashion Prize at the Smirnoff Fashion Awards (1992). Freelance designer for several brands, including Boboli (children’s fashion). Has collaborated with numerous lingerie and swimwear brands such as Women’s Secret, University (Andrés Sardá), Dos Mares, Alagua, Emperatriz, Majestic, and Intima Cherry, among others. Was full-time head of the lingerie department at Oysho (Inditex, 2000-2003). Has also collaborated with footwear brands such as Toni Pons. University lecturer at ESDI since 2004.

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Graduate in Fashion Design from the University of Southampton in 1996. In 1997, he joined ANTONIO MIRÓ as menswear creative director. Since 1998, he has been a member of the board of directors of MODA-FAD. After several years designing, out of vital necessity, he shifted his focus to university teaching. Currently, in addition to his teaching, he dedicates himself to personal projects related to art and poetry.

PATTERN MAKER
Senior Patternmaking and Fashion Technician with over twenty years of experience in the fashion industry. She has worked as a pattern maker for the Menchén Tomás brand, creating patterns for casual wear, event attire, and custom-made wedding dresses. In addition to teaching, she currently works as a pattern maker for Patrones magazine and as a freelance pattern maker for various brands.
