INTRODUCTION
In the Graphic Communication specialization, you’ll learn to master visual languages and digital tools to communicate messages creatively and effectively. From typography and illustration to editorial design, motion graphics, and digital interfaces, the program combines tradition and innovation so you can develop your own unique style.

Curriculum
The Bachelor’s Degree in Design curriculum comprises 240 credits, structured into four years of 60 credits each. The first two years consist of Compulsory (O) and Basic Training (FB) courses, common to all specializations. However, some courses already cover specific content and include assignments and activities related to the chosen specialization.
The Graphic Design-specific elective subjects (OPT) are taught from the third year onwards and delve deeper into theoretical and practical knowledge specific to the specialization. These courses are complemented by the mandatory company internships and the completion of a Final Degree Project.

Final Degree Project
The Final Degree Project in the specialization of Graphic Communication is the culmination of the training program, where students develop their own project that integrates all the knowledge acquired. This project combines research, conceptualization, visual development, and practical application, demonstrating the ability to solve graphic communication problems in a creative, strategic, and innovative way.

The Final Degree Project (TFG) is also an opportunity for students to showcase their identity as graphic designers and give visibility to their talent in professional settings. With the support of specialized tutors and the possibility of presenting projects at events and competitions, this experience becomes a springboard into the professional world and a first step towards establishing a career in the graphic design sector.

Academic Team

ACADEMIC DIRECTOR OF ESDI-URL
Academic Director of ESDI-URL and PhD in Journalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). She has been the principal investigator of the TADD research group since 2018. From 2012 to 2024, she directed ESDI Color Lab, a laboratory that conducts research on color trends, as Spain’s representative to the International Color Association, Intercolor. Her research focuses on the social analysis and diagnosis of social trends that directly impact different areas of design. She has participated in international conferences and congresses and has written several articles and books related to the semiotics and sociology of design.

Industrial Engineer specializing in Textiles from ETSEIT-UPC, Postgraduate Diploma in Operations Management from ICT, and Executive Development Program from IESE Business School. He has extensive experience as a manager in Operations and Product areas within the textile/apparel/fashion sector. He has held positions such as Planning Manager at Benetton, Product Development Director at DBApparel Spain, and Quality and Sourcing Director at Desigual.

Graduate in Electronic Art and Digital Design from ESDI-URL, Technical Engineer in Computer Systems, Bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Public Relations, Postgraduate Diploma in Graphic Design and Production, and Postgraduate diploma in Advanced Graphic Design. Head of Studies at the AEAD Graphic Design program of ESDI.

Multimedia artist, professor, and researcher. PhD Summa Cum Laude in Communication (European Mention). He studied film and programming, combining humanities and is a Visiting Scholar at UdK Berlin (1997) and UCLA (1998-99). He completed academic residencies at ZKM and KHM (2002-08) and currently produces, teaches, and conducts university research in Barcelona.

Industrial engineer with a degree in Advertising and Public Relations. He combines his work as an illustrator with research in education and creative thinking. He is responsible for Teaching Innovation and Program Development at ESDI-URL and is a doctoral candidate in Education and Art at the UAB.

UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF DESIGN THEORY AND ANALYSIS
Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona (UB) and Doctor of Psychology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). Postgraduate degree in Computer Animation Techniques from the Escola Pia de Sarrià. With over 20 years of experience in teaching, applied research, academic management, and quality assurance. She is currently a professor in the Department of Design Theory and Analysis and a member of the Design Theory, Analysis, and Development (TADD) research group at ESDI-URL.

He studied Photography at the IEFC in Barcelona, a Postgraduate degree in Photography and CGI from the CITM, a Master’s degree in Animation and 3D Art from the UPC, and has taken courses in ZBrush and Houdini. He has over 15 years of experience working as a 3D generalist in various fields and as a lecturer in 3D modeling, texturing, rigging, rendering, and procedural development at both advanced vocational training and undergraduate levels in several institutions.

He studied Product Design at ESDI-URL and completed several specialized courses before starting his freelance career. He later co-founded Bakoom Studio, where he leads visual identity, strategy, and communication projects for brands and institutions. He also co-directs the Latent Festival to promote emerging talent in the field of design.

Degree in Multimedia Design from CITM-UPC, a Postgraduate Diploma in Art Direction from Complot School of Creatives, and a Master’s degree in Branding and Packaging Design from BAU. He is the co-founder and Brand/Digital Lead at Bakoom Studio, a multidisciplinary studio with a strong focus on fresh and powerful concepts. He is also the co-founder of the Latent festival, which promotes and empowers emerging talent in the design and creative sector.

He is the founder and creative director of Pol Solsona Studio, a multidisciplinary design studio that helps clients communicate their message, enhance their brand, and engage their audience through the power of exceptional design. He has won several LAUS awards and is also the creative director of the Embassa’t Festival.

Graduate in Graphic Design from ESDI-URL, with a degree in History from the University of Barcelona, and a Master’s degree in Creative Documentary from the Pompeu Fabra University. He is currently a Senior Graphic Designer and Art Director at the Catalan Health Service (SSN). His final degree project, “Mnéme,” has won numerous awards, including the Gaudeamus Projecta, the G Accent Award from Gràffica magazine, and the Stone & Wood Award from Selected Bilbao.

He designs scalable component libraries, optimizes workflows, and connects design and development to deliver consistent, high-quality user experiences.

He has worked at production companies such as Mediapro and El Terrat as a specialist in graphic design and motion graphics. She has created various installations, games, and devices that explore the convergence of play, art, and technology. Her pieces have been featured in events such as Llum, IDEAL, ESC, Mostra Sonora, TNT, and We Play, among others. In addition to teaching, she works as a freelance designer and is an artist-in-residence at Hangar as part of the Matics collective, with which she organizes digital art events and creates performance pieces.
