This Thursday, April 30, starting at 5:00 p.m., the ESDI Hall will host the opening of two digital art exhibitions curated by students of the Master’s Degree in Digital Art Curatorship. The exhibitions, titled “Loading… The Digital Image is an Ongoing Process” and “The Digital as a New Canvas, the Algorithm as a New Brush,” are the result of work developed in two courses within the program, which have allowed students to explore different exhibition formats and contemporary curatorial methodologies.
On the one hand, the exhibitions stem from the course Exhibition and Alternative Formats, taught by the artist Agustina Palazzo. Within this context, the group of students has developed various virtual reality projects that explore new forms of artistic experience and expand the boundaries of the traditional exhibition space into immersive and digital environments.
On the other hand, they are the result of the Curatorial Practice and Management Seminar, led by art professor and educator Judith Méndez. In this case, the students worked from a selection of two projects originally conceived in an online format, with the challenge of transferring them to a physical, in-person context, rethinking their discourse, installation, and relationship with the public.
The students were responsible for the entire curatorial and production process of the exhibitions, from the initial conceptualisation and content research to the selection of works, the design of the exhibition narrative, the coordination of the installation, and the adaptation of the pieces to the space. This comprehensive work was complemented by the development of the visual identity for both exhibitions, including the design of posters and graphic materials, thus reinforcing a coherent exhibition experience aligned with the languages of contemporary digital art.
The results of this research, conceptualisation, and curatorial process can be viewed at ESDI during an event that highlights emerging talent and the students’ ability to address the current challenges of digital art curating. Admission is open to the entire community, and the exhibition will be on display in the ESDI Hall until May 15.
