The Product Design specialization within ESDI’s Bachelor’s Degree in Design prepares you to conceive, develop, and create objects and systems that improve people’s lives. This training combines creativity, technical skills, and innovation with a sustainable and industry-oriented approach.
INTRODUCTION
In ESDI’s Product Design specialization, you’ll learn to design products that provide functional, aesthetic, and responsible solutions, ranging from everyday objects to technological and sustainable projects. You’ll work with research, prototyping, and digital fabrication methodologies, applying user-centered design principles.
In addition to specialized courses, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in projects with companies, innovation workshops, and multidisciplinary collaborations that will connect you directly with the market. This experience will allow you to develop your own style and take on challenges in sectors such as industrial design, furniture, transportation, and technological devices.

Curriculum
The Bachelor’s Degree in Design curriculum comprises 240 credits, structured into four years of 60 credits each. The first two years consist of Compulsory (O) and Basic Training (FB) courses, common to all specializations. However, some courses already cover specific content and include assignments and activities related to the chosen specialization.
The Product-specif elective subjects (OP) are taught from the third year onward and delve deeper into the theoretical and practical knowledge specific to the specialization. These courses are complemented by mandatory internships in companies and the completion of a Final Degree Project.

Final Degree Project
The Final Degree Project in the specialization of Product Design is the space where students integrate all their learning into the development of their own project. Through research, prototyping, and experimentation with materials and technologies, each student conceives a product that reflects their identity as a designer and responds to real needs.

This project represents not only an academic challenge but also a professional calling card. With the support of specialized tutors and the opportunity to present the results in competitions and in academic and professional settings, the Final Degree Project becomes a springboard into the job market and the product design industry.

Academic Team

ACADEMIC DIRECTOR OF ESDI-URL
Academic Director of ESDI-URL and PhD in Journalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). She has been the principal investigator of the TADD research group since 2018. From 2012 to 2024, she directed ESDI Color Lab, a laboratory that conducts research on color trends, as Spain’s representative to the International Color Association, Intercolor. Her research focuses on the social analysis and diagnosis of social trends that directly impact different areas of design. She has participated in international conferences and congresses and has written several articles and books related to the semiotics and sociology of design.

ACADEMIC COORDINATOR
Industrial Engineer specializing in Textiles from ETSEIT-UPC, Postgraduate Diploma in Operations Management from ICT, and Executive Development Program from IESE Business School. He has extensive experience as a manager in Operations and Product areas within the textile/apparel/fashion sector. He has held positions such as Planning Manager at Benetton, Product Development Director at DBApparel Spain, and Quality and Sourcing Director at Desigual.

Graduate in Design, specializing in Product Design, from ESDI-URL, and in 3D Design with Digital Modelling from UCLAN, England. Founder of the jewelry brand Isona Ten. She has worked as a freelance designer of jewelry, accessories, and packaging, collaborating with various companies in the sector in both Barcelona and England.

PRODUCT DESIGNER
Graduate in Product Design from ESDI-URL and member of the AEAD Product Design Association, working on training and technical development projects. He combines his teaching and technical work with developing projects focused on design, prototyping, and functional solutions for clients.

UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF DESIGN THEORY AND ANALYSIS
Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona (UB) and Doctor of Psychology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). Postgraduate degree in Computer Animation Techniques from the Escola Pia de Sarrià. With over 20 years of experience in teaching, applied research, academic management, and quality assurance. She is currently a professor in the Department of Design Theory and Analysis and a member of the Design Theory, Analysis, and Development (TADD) research group at ESDI-URL.
Teaching Collaborators

Founded his own design studio in Barcelona, jordi llopis design, after working in various design studios and companies in the sector. Since 2006, he has also collaborated with several leading furniture and lighting design companies and publishers. In 2012, he established Brots, a self-produced exhibition and retail space in the Empordà region. He is currently the Design Manager at Luxcambra.

DESIGNER
After studying economics and music, Josep Poblet began his career as a designer when he decided to leave his office job to return to working with his hands. He currently combines teaching at design schools and collaborating with other studios with running his own studio, which he started in Barcelona, and moved to Vila-seca, his hometown, in 2022.

Graduate in Product Design from ESDI-URL, he teaches product and footwear design projects. He is the Director of both the Postgraduate Program in Advanced Footwear Design at ESDI and the food design studio Biscuits Bcn, as well as Head of Design at LightLed. He is a Senior Designer at Camper (Wabi) and has won several awards, including ADI Fad 2001 (Nesú project), Agència de residus de Catalunya 2009 (LCD project), Grandma’s Design 2013 (Snow Star), and the Granini Award.

Industrial designer with professional experience in furniture project management. She has years of experience developing various products, overseeing production, and improving production results, considering aesthetic, technical, and financial aspects. She is also involved in teaching, implementing design-related courses.

Industrial designer (Elisava) with a Master’s degree in Industrial Design and Product Development from the UPC. He has worked in several renowned design studios in Barcelona and collaborated with the IED Research Center in Milan, Italy. In 2002, he co-founded the design team TERUEL/PARÉ with architect Josep Teruel, and in 2009, he established ignasiParé designStudio. He also regularly participates in courses, conferences, and trade fairs in the design and innovation sector.
