Yesterday, ESDI had the honor of hosting Moisés Rodríguez, director of the Consorci de Comerç, Artesania i Moda de Catalunya (CCAM), and Marta Coca, head of fashion at CCAM and project manager for 080 Barcelona Fashion. This meeting with representatives from the Government of Catalonia and the Department of Business and Labor was a great opportunity to share innovative projects developed by our students, establish synergies with companies in the sector, and showcase our facilities, reflecting ESDI’s commitment to excellence in design and fashion education.
During the visit, special attention was given to the role of craftsmanship in contemporary design. One of the highlights was the visit to the Color Lab, led by its director, Anna Armentano. This space for chromatic research exemplifies how artisanal knowledge can be combined with research and sustainability.
CCAM Visit to ESDI ColorLab
In this context, the new collaborative project that ESDI is promoting with ABSOTEC® ACOUSTIC ABSORPTION, a company specializing in acoustic solutions, was presented. The project, also developed with the support of AITEX and Hilaturas Jesús Rubio, focuses on the design of acoustic absorption panels made with wool from the Ripollesa sheep, a native breed of the Catalan Pyrenees. This wool, currently considered waste, is transformed into a high-value resource, contributing to sustainability, local development, and the circular economy.
This project represents an inspiring union of craftsmanship, innovation, sustainability, and local context, and poses important future challenges for the fashion sector. It invites us to rethink production and consumption models toward more environmentally responsible proposals that are more connected to the local context.
Initiatives like this reinforce our commitment to continue connecting emerging talent with the business world and institutions, consolidating the role of design as an engine of social and economic transformation.
