Last week, Syra Coffee celebrated its ninth anniversary with the “Coffee & Circularity” competition, which invited design students and alumni to rethink the café in Barcelona’s Gracia neighborhood using sustainable materials derived from coffee waste. We are very happy to announce that ESDI alumni, Raúl Fidalgo, Sandra Victoria and Edgar Martinez, were the winners of this initiative.
The award-winning project proposes a modular furniture system that optimizes mobility and storage, guaranteeing shelves that are always full, regardless of the amount of product available. This design is not only functional, but also reflects the values of sustainability and circularity that Syra Coffee promotes.
The objective of this competition is to promote sustainability and innovation in design, and the ESDI winners have received a prize of €3,000 to develop and implement their proposal in the store.
The competition provided a valuable platform for participants to explore the intersection between design and sustainability, highlighting the importance of innovating the way we think about the café space.
