The Barcelona-based designer presents in Paris a collection that explores identity, nature and the reinterpretation of classic menswear codes
An international debut at Paris Fashion Week
Barcelona-based designer Javier Guijarro , an ESDI alumnus, presented his Fall/Winter 2026 collection at Paris Fashion Week , one of the most important events on the international fashion calendar. His debut in the French capital marks a new step in his career, solidifying a creative voice that revisits classic menswear codes from a personal perspective.
The collection moves between the everyday and the unexpected, embracing an aesthetic that eschews overly polished glamour in favor of a more natural and spontaneous elegance. The silhouettes and combinations convey a sense of apparent improvisation that, nevertheless, conceals careful construction and a strong narrative behind each look.
The forest as a metaphor for identity
The collection revolves around a reflection on identity and its relationship with the environment. Guijarro takes as his starting point the imagery of the forest, understood as a symbolic space where the individual can construct themselves away from social judgment, guided by intuition, intimacy, and the process of personal transformation.
This creative universe engages with cultural references such as the animated series Over the Garden Wall and the film Monster by Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda, works that explore emotional growth, adventure, and change.
Reinterpreting the classic wardrobe
On a formal level, the collection pays special attention to the materiality of the garments. Traditional elements of the men’s wardrobe, such as plaid shirts, tailored trousers, and wool coats, are reinterpreted using waxed fabrics and waterproof finishes, adding new textures and functions to recognizable pieces.
This approach allows Guijarro to explore a balance between tradition and experimentation, transforming everyday garments into proposals with a distinctive character.
A collaboration with Converse
The collection also incorporates a creative dialogue with Converse , visible in ankle boots made from recycled footwear and canvas sourced from vintage sneakers. Among the standout pieces is a reinterpretation of the iconic Chuck Taylor , transformed with a pointed toe and new finishes, reinforcing the spirit of reinvention present throughout the collection.
