The ESDI Higher School of Design, a center affiliated with the Universitat Ramon Llull, will host on November 26 and 27 the event \u201cKnowledge of Wool,\u201d part of the project \u201cInterwoven: Traceability and Reconfiguration of Knowledge in Textile Production in Sabadell\u201d, promoted with the support of the Banco Sabadell Foundation. The initiative aims to revive Sabadell\u2019s wool tradition from a contemporary perspective, fostering a dialogue between craftsmanship, design, industry, and sustainable innovation.<\/p>\n
The event will bring together artisans, designers, companies, cooperatives, researchers, and public institutions to explore new forms of collaboration and imagine possible futures for wool as a strategic resource. The event seeks to promote traceability, local production, and the revalorization of native wool, especially from the Ripollesa sheep, a Catalan breed at risk of extinction.<\/p>\n
The Interwoven project places wool at the center of a debate on sustainability, reindustrialization, and heritage. From ESDI \u2014located in the former Docks of Sabadell, a historic logistical center of the textile industry\u2014 this space encourages exchange between traditional knowledge and new circular production models.<\/p>\n
A gathering to rethink the future of textile craftsmanship.<\/strong><\/p>\n The first day, under the title \u201cKnowledge and Materials\u201d (November 26, ESDI workshops), will offer artisanal workshops led by professionals such as Laia Aguil\u00e0, Barrina Art, and Davit Malakyan, focused on the craft of wool and its application in new creative languages.<\/p>\n On the second day (November 27, ESDI Auditorium), titled \u201cTextiles as a Tool for Local Transformation\u201d, the project supported by the Banco Sabadell Foundation, \u201cInterwoven: Traceability and Reconfiguration of Knowledge in Textile Production in Sabadell\u201d, will be presented by Dr. Encarna Ruiz, Academic Director of ESDI-URL. This day will also feature the lectures \u201cKnowledge of Wool\u201d and \u201cCraftsmanship in the Age of Artificial Intelligence\u201d, given by Dr. Marcela Lucci and Mikki Schindler, ESDI faculty and researchers, as well as the panel \u201cCraftsmanship, Recovering Local Identity\u201d, with Laia Aguil\u00e0, M\u00f3nica Noguero, Anna Armentano, and Pilar Rubio (Hilaturas Jes\u00fas Rubio), moderated by Pep Serra.<\/p>\n This second day of reflection on the future of textile craftsmanship will include the presence of Mois\u00e9s Rodr\u00edguez Cant\u00f3n, Director of the Consortium of Commerce, Crafts, and Fashion of the Generalitat de Catalunya (CCAM), along with representatives from the Banco Sabadell Foundation and ESDI.<\/p>\n The event is open to the public and free of charge but requires prior registration through the Eventbrite platform.
