31 Jul Meritxell Limonero winner of the Premis Talent of the Welcome Talent Society
The union of the contemporary design world and the modernist architecture was the inspiration for our Product Design alumni Meritxell Limonero, who won the 3D Singular Object award at the Premis Talent of the Welcome Talent Society thanks to her porte-oeufs design “Barce-l’ou-na”.
The kitchen instrument, used for the consumption of eggs in the semi-done state, was the result of an analysis of the style of Lluís Domenech i Montaner and one of his most recognized works, the Palau de la Música de Barcelona.
Uniting industrial design, 3D printing techniques and the iconic architecture of the city, Limonero developed an object that incorporates elements characteristic of Catalan culture such as the Senyera and the Cross of Sant Jordi. Winner of the “Objeto Singular 3D” award, the creation of Limonero will be produced and distributed as a representation of the Barcelona-Catalonia brand.
This prize, organized by the Welcome Talent Society, sought to encourage designers’ creativity in order to get visitors to take with them a new kind of city story, more authentic and more identifiable with Barcelona and Catalonia. The Premis Talent, on the other hand, were sponsored by the Generalitat de Catalunya, Diari Ara, FARO and Ametleer Origens, and had the support of the Museu del Disseny.
