02 Jan The Audiovisual Park of Catalonia presented at ESDi the crowdfunding center Torax Media
On November 30, 2018, Cristina Brandner and Jordi Hernández, current manager and technical director of the Audiovisual Park of Catalonia, came to ESDi to present Torax Media, the incubator for audiovisual startups in cooperation with Telefónica. In the conference offered at the auditorium, the students could learn more about the facilities of this audiovisual production center located in Terrassa, which has a space with more than 50.000 m2.
After the presentation of the services of the Audiovisual Park of Catalonia, Cristina and Jordi explained to the students the challenges and opportunities that the technology crowdfunding center Torax Media raises to the selected audiovisual projects. Taking advantage of the visit, we were able to ask them some questions:
1. What is the Audiovisual Park of Catalonia and what is its function?
It is a production studio where we rent sets and filming locations. We host productions such as “Súper López”, “The Photographer of Mauthausen” or large television productions such as “Operación Triunfo”. We also have more than 40 companies from the audiovisual and media sectors.
2. How was the Torax Media project born?
The Torax Media project was born with the idea of providing R&D services to the audiovisual sector and finding solutions to possible technological needs and challenges. On the other hand, as a public company, we want to help new entrepreneurs to give a boost to their projects.
3. How do you help audiovisual startups to develop themselves?
We give audiovisual startups all the coaching support for the creation of a business plan. We also help them find the necessary financing for their development.
4. Is it important for you that design schools like ESDi collaborate in the promotion of Torax Media?
Design schools are our main source of innovative ideas and professionals.
Many thanks to Cristina and Jordi for their visit and the interesting conference! We hope that our students and alumni are encouraged to present their audiovisual projects to the Torax Media.
